Exercises and support

This book includes multiple exercises. For each exercise, you can use any format or tool you prefer. You might make a handwritten list, sketch something, use online sticky notes like Miro, physical paper sticky notes, or choose another online or offline tool. Use whatever helps you organize and express your thoughts.

Our optional Miro template, which has frames for most of the exercises, is at LAT.link/miro-exercises.

Later exercises use the work from earlier exercises, so it might be beneficial to eventually put your work into an online format. That would allow you to easily make changes, copy-paste, or move things around.

These are not meant to be quick exercises. They require introspection, self-reflection, and some tough topics you may have avoided. Additionally, many exercises pick up where a previous one left off. You’ll want to give each exercise some serious time.

Therefore, you’ll get more out of the exercises by investing more time and effort. Perhaps start an exercise one day and take a second look at it the next day. Make these “living documents,” and review and update them as often as you like.

Exercises are designed to be done individually, but you can certainly collaborate or bounce things off your trusted circle, including your partner, family, friends, coach, or therapist. If you would like more personal/private coaching than just the instructor giving feedback on your exercises, please sign up for coaching. The first session is free.

Our free Life After Tech Discord has channels for each exercise. Share and discuss your exercise work. LAT.link/discord We’d love to see what you create, especially to include more perspectives from different regions, cultures, disabilities or conditions, and marginalized groups.

We are stronger in teams and communities than alone. I’ve created a simple resource and membership website at LifeAfterTech.info. Please join! Put in your work areas, dreams, or what you’re already doing or offering. Maybe we can match some of you up so you can partner on similar ideas (if you’re local) or learn from each other if you’re not directly competing.
